IRIS: an immersive application with Oculus Meta 3S

for interactive remote collaboration between surgical experts

Context : Virtual reality and artificial intelligence are revolutionizing all areas of medicine, particularly 3D anatomical imaging and surgery. Training and simulation are used daily in endoscopy and surgery, always guided by images thanks to precise 3D models obtained through anatomical segmentation.

The goal of the new IRIS Oculus application (Immersive Remote Interaction for Surgery ) is to enable collaborative and interactive remote connections for discussing surgical cases with complex anatomy using an immersive reality headset (Meta Quest 3S). It's a revolution for the surgical team!

Results : The software allows multiple surgeons to discuss and collaborate on the 3D anatomy of the same patient before making and executing surgical decisions, based on DICOM data from CT angiography. The reconstruction of the segmented 3D models is automatically performed by the server using an advanced algorithm to improve anatomical accuracy and segmentation precision.

Structures : Begin by downloading and viewing the CT scans using a web browser. (https://www.iris-oculus.com/) Then access the Oculus Iris application and enter the patient's ID number to begin the remote collaborative and interactive manipulation of the digital avatar.
